Pastor Aaron Layne (aka PAL) was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 2005. He is a 2005 Master of Divinity graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary and 2001 graduate of Capital University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
Capital University holds a special place in Pastor Aaron's heart. It is there that he met his wife, Marcy ('00) while singing in the Chapel Choir. He has previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Capital teaching an undergraduate class entitled "Foundations of Youth Ministry and Christian Education."

PAL currently serves on the Board of Director for HopeWood Outdoors after serving six years on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio (LSS). PAL has been elected to be the voting delegate for the 2019 and 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assemblies.

Pastor Aaron and Marcy have two children, Caden and Anna.
Mary Garland
Office Manager
Mary has been employed with Advent Lutheran Church since 1996. She is married to Mark and they have one daughter, Alaina. Alaina and her husband, Josh live in Louisville KY. and she works in the health care field while Josh is a firefighter. Mary and Mark are grandparents to Kolben who lives with his parents in Kentucky. Mary and Mark are long time members of Cypress Wesleyan Church, but Mary considers Advent her second home.
Jean Pontious
Director of Music Ministries
Jean has been at Advent since 1979. She is a retired educator and counselor. Jean has two grown children and six grandchildren.
She oversees the Music Ministries, choosing of hymns and anthems, accompanies our worship services, and directs Advent's children's choirs and Confirmation chimes.
Marcy Layne

Youth & Family Ministries
Adult Choir & Bell Choir Director
Marcy has been a member of Advent Lutheran Church since 2014. Before joining our staff, she spent over two decades as a dedicated public school music educator.
Her role as Director of Youth and Family Ministries is to plan and lead the ministries of y² and Senior High and plan and oversee the family events such as Live Nativity, Easter Egg Hunt and Vacation Bible School.
In her role as Adult Choir Director and Bell Choir director, she holds rehearsals, selects music and directs the offerings during service. Marcy is married to Pastor Aaron Layne, and together they have two children. They reside in Westerville, OH.
Courtney Pittman
Digital Content Manager
Courtney is the one who runs the live stream, makes the announcement and helps with the worship slides, website, and social media graphics and posts.

She is a student at Capital University, and a previous counselor at HopeWood Shores at Camp Luther, and currently plays the guitar for the Advent Praise Band.

Nursery Attendant
Our nursery is available for infants through pre-schoolers.
Your children are cared for and loved by a consistent staff. We have beepers that are given to parents when their child is dropped off and must be presented to pick up the child.
